Zelensky calls PM Edi Rama: Informed him about the war, thank you Albania

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation today with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, briefing him on the situation at the front and recent diplomatic talks.

Why is this important: Albania has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine, providing military and humanitarian aid and above all diplomatic support for Ukraine. Direct dialogue at the head-of-state level reinforces Tirana’s role in rallying international partners to help end the conflict and protect civilians.

Context: According to Zelensky the conversation focused on the work Ukraine is doing with all its partners to end the war and to stop the killings as soon as possible. They also discussed preparations for upcoming meetings in major international venues—new formats of engagement with Ukraine’s allies.

Zelensky’s full post in English:

“I had a good conversation with the Prime Minister of Albania @ediramaal.

I briefly informed him about the situation on the front and in diplomacy.

We are working with all our partners to end this war and to stop the killings as soon as possible.

We discussed preparations for meetings in major international venues. These will be special formats of engagement with our partners.

We will do everything to protect our people. Thank you, Edi, thank you, Albania, for your unwavering support for Ukraine.”
