Speculation mounts: Will Sylvinho renew his contract with Albania until 2026?
Despite being eliminated in the early stages of Euro 2024, the Albanian National Team had a good performance that attracted attention during the European championship. As a result, not just the players, but also Brazilian coach Sylvinho has appeared on the European transfer market raising questions about what the Albanian Football Federation will do to secure the extension of his stay.
Context
Although the Albanian Football Federation has made public its desire to renew the contract with the coach until 2026, there are reports that Sylvinho is also considering another offer.
The head of the Federation, Armand Duka, says that the Brazilian coach has had the offer to renew his contract on his table since January of this year. “We proposed the renewal back in January. I believe we will finalize it soon. We will decide before the Euro ends. But if a La Liga club comes out and offers 5 million euros, what can we do.”
It is still unknown which European club has made an offer to Sylvinho. Upon his return to Albania from Germany, Sylvinho declared that he considers himself part of the red and black project.
Albania finished last in Group B, where opponents included Spain, Italy and Croatia, with only 1 point collected. The Red and Black Team scored three goals and conceded five, and left with a record, the fastest goal ever scored in a European championship. The Nations League games begin in September so it seems that the future of Silvinjo will be made public shortly.
