The Path of Colors (Shtegu i Ngjyrave) is a mountain route connecting Kukës, Albania, with the highlands of Kosovo. It offers visitors a unique adventure through vibrant meadows and breathtaking landscapes.

·       Starting point and route:
The trail begins in Shishtavec, 32 km from Kukës, and leads travelers through the picturesque mountains. The journey finishes in the Kosovo highlands, making it an ideal cross-border adventure for nature lovers.

·       The flower meadows of Novosej:
One of the highlights is the vast narcissus-filled meadows in Novosej. These flowers, associated with the myth of Narcissus from Greek mythology, enhance the charm of the landscape. According to legend, Narcissus, obsessed with his reflection, was transformed into this white flower after his tragic death.

·       Best time to visit:
Spring is the perfect season to experience the trail, as the fields bloom with multi-colored flowers. The traditional attire of local women, known for its vibrant hues, reflects the rich palette of the wildflowers.

·       Reaching 2,000 meters:
Hikers ascend to an elevation of 2,000 meters, where they encounter Guri i Mengjesit (Morning Rock). This towering 25-meter natural monument once served as a navigation point for shepherds and remains a favored spot for photography and local celebrations.

·       Travel tips:
A portion of the trail can be traversed by four-wheel-drive vehicles, with the rest covered by horse rides guided by locals. Even during summer, patches of snow linger at higher elevations, and temperatures can drop in the mornings and afternoons. Visitors should carry warm clothing to stay comfortable throughout the journey.
