Renovation of “Vaçe Zela” Art Center in Lushnjë to revitalize cultural life

The renovation of the “Vaçe Zela” Art Center in Lushnjë is expected to breathe new life into the city’s cultural scene, with the project set to be completed by the end of June.

Why this is important: Located in the “Kongresi i Lushnjës” neighborhood, the Art Center is set to be operational during the upcoming tourist season. It will host a variety of activities, including cinema, theater, and other socio-cultural events, making it a key cultural hub for the city.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, along with Lushnjë’s Mayor Eriselda Sefa, inspected the ongoing works at the site. According to Mayor Sefa, the venue will feature a main hall with 450 seats, while the Puppet Theater will have 150 seats. “It is the only movable stage in Albania, after the National Opera Theater, and it will remain unique,” Sefa stated.

The renovation will not only focus on civil works but will also include the restoration and preservation of certain building elements and the full refurbishment of the center’s furnishings. The intervention is especially complex, as the building itself presents unique challenges. The project is being funded by the Albanian government and is being carried out by the Albanian Development Fund.
