Prime Minister Rama undergoes successful surgery at QSUT
Prime Minister Edi Rama successfully underwent surgery today at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center (QSUT) for an inguinal hernia. The procedure went well, and Rama is currently in stable condition.
Background: This is not the first time Rama has chosen QSUT for medical treatment. Rama previously underwent surgery at QSUT and has repeatedly emphasized his trust in the country’s public hospitals. During a public appearance, he humorously remarked that while he could manage certain health issues himself, like back pain, the hernia required professional care. The Prime Minister had announced the need for this surgery back in August, when he shared that the hernia was a persistent issue that required medical attention.
What they’re saying: The surgery was led by Professor Dr. Arben Gjata, one of Albania’s top surgeons. Dr. Gjata confirmed that Rama is recovering well: “The Prime Minister is awake from anesthesia and in stable condition. The procedure took about two hours and had been planned in advance.” Rama will remain at QSUT for monitoring today but is expected to make a full recovery.
