President Bajram Begaj visits Warsaw at invitation of Polish President

President Bajram Begaj was on an official visit to Warsaw on Tuesday at the invitation of Polish President Andrzej Duda, where he held discussions with his Polish counterpart on strengthening bilateral relations, cooperation in addressing regional developments, and global challenges.

The visit coincided with Poland’s celebrations marking 25 years since NATO accession, 20 years since EU accession, and 35 years since the fall of communism. Albania and Poland enjoy very good relations, and cooperation between the two countries has further consolidated in the context of the war in Ukraine, with both showing strong commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia.

The two presidents agreed to work together to expand and deepen cooperation across all areas, with a special focus on the economy. President Begaj expressed Albania’s interest in attracting more direct investments from Poland in infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, tourism, etc. He also expressed Albania’s gratitude for Poland’s support for Albania’s EU integration process and underlined the fact that Albania views Poland’s assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in early 2025 as an opportunity to accelerate Albania’s integration into the EU and facilitate further progress for Western Balkan countries.

Regarding Ukraine, President Begaj reiterated Albania’s unwavering solidarity and underlined his country’s continuous and unequivocal support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized that supporting Ukraine is not merely a gesture of goodwill but an investment in our collective security and future.
