Porto Palermo festival kicks off with powerful environmental message

The 5th edition of the Porto Palermo Festival has officially begun, launching not just with music, but with a meaningful environmental message. Over 150 volunteers and divers took part in a symbolic cleanup operation, removing waste from the sea and the area surrounding the historic Ali Pasha Castle, where the festival is held.
Why is this important: Before the music begins, the organizers intentionally set the tone with this action to highlight the festival’s broader mission: promoting sustainable cultural tourism in Albania, alongside offering unforgettable musical experiences.
The festival officially opens on Thursday, July 31, and runs until August 17, hosting 12 magical nights of live music in the atmospheric setting of the medieval Ali Pasha Castle, blending nature, history, and art.
The opening night will feature the festival’s creator, violinist Olen Cesari. On August 1, the Albanian Folk Ensemble will perform, followed by Ledina Çelo, Genc Tukiçi, Dëshira Ahmeti, and Anamaria Beqaj on August 2.
Dren Abazi takes the stage on August 3, while superstar Aurela Gaçe is scheduled for August 7, followed by Adrian Trebicka and Kastriot Tusha on August 8. On August 9, the audience will enjoy performances by Carlo Paz and Sin Fronteras.
Italian artist Alberto Laurenti will perform on August 10, with the festival concluding in its final nights with familiar names like Marsela Çibukaj and Eda Zari, long-time contributors to the event’s growing legacy.
