Port of Durrës sees 8% increase in cargo processing in early 2025

The Port of Durrës processed over 548,000 tons of cargo in the first two months of 2025, marking an 8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Durrës Port Authority.

As Albania’s largest port, Durrës handles 99% of the country’s maritime cargo traffic. To expand logistics and regional trade, the government is developing a new port in Porto Romano, which will also serve dry ports in North Macedonia and Kosovo.

The Porto Romano project aims to establish a key logistics hub for economic growth in the Tirana-Durrës corridor and facilitate transit cargo operations.
