OECD 2024 Competitiveness Report recognized Albania’s significant progress

The Western Balkans Competitiveness Data Hub certifies Albania’s progress at the High-Level Conference for Southeast Europe in Paris, particularly in sectors like labor, sustainable economy, tourism, and more.

Context

The OECD’s 2024 Competitiveness Report evaluates Western Balkans countries across 15 key dimensions, analyzing over 440 economic and sectorial indicators that reflect enhanced competitiveness.

According to OECD, Albania has made significant strides in employment policies, tourism, trade, environment, agriculture, energy, finance, anti-corruption efforts, education, digital society, investments, and more. It leads regionally in 13 out of the report’s 15 dimensions.

From France, where the report was presented, Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja emphasized the fact that this pivotal report comes at a crucial moment for Albania as the country works to finalize its reform agenda within the framework of the EU growth plan, aiming for rapid convergence and swift harmonization. He expressed his satisfaction that the 2024 Competitiveness Report confirms that Albania leads and surpasses the Western Balkans in 13 out of 15 dimensions and shows progress in the 14th dimension.
