New UK Ambassador appointed
Nick Abbott has been selected to be the new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Albania. Abbott will replace Mr. Alastair King-Smith, whose three-year term ends in July.
Nick Abbott has served for the last 5 years as the British ambassador to Kosovo. Abbott speaks Albanian very well, just like his predecessor Alastair King-Smith.
During his term, King-Smith, alongside the US Ambassador, often came under attack from the opposition leader following his declaration as persona non-grata from Britain. According to Sali Berisha, King-Smith was a pawn of Prime Minister Edi Rama, and he was instrumental in fabricating evidence to frame him. The untruth of these accusations was revealed by the UK’s Special Immigration Appeals Commission which upheld the designation of the Home Office and rejected the appeal by Berisha’s lawyers
