KfW to finance investment in modernization of 11 energy distribution substations through smart technology
Albania’s electricity distributor, the OSHEE Group signed an investment contract for the modernization of 11 substations in the Tirana – Durrës area. The initiative falls under the “Electricity Distribution Investment Program I,” financed by the German Development Bank – KfW.
Why is this relevant
The project aims to enhance the capacity of the Albanian electricity distribution system, minimize losses, and ensure the safety and quality of electricity supply. As part of Lot III, the contract will focus on reconstructing substations and adapting them for online operation and control using the SCADA system.
This investment is set to benefit OSHEE Group’s customers by preemptively averting network overloads that can cause outages and by significantly reducing onsite operational time through remote management.
Additionally, OSHEE Group is currently engaged in several other important investments through OSSH, particularly in smart equipment sectors. These include the deployment of smart meters across various regions, the installation of modern electricity measurement systems, and more.
