Government to launch measures aimed at further increasing information transparency
On the eve of the start of the new parliamentary session, the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Niko Peleshi, announced an initiative of the Government that is aimed at improving information transparency through legal amendments to the existing laws is going to be one of the priorities of the ruling majority.
The Law on the Right to Public Information mandates that institutions must respond to any request for information within a maximum of 15 days. However, in an era where technology has advanced and information is disseminated in real-time, the Albanian Government aims to become the first government in the region to ensure that public institutions provide information to the media and the public within the same day.
This initiative is seen as a step towards increasing the transparency of public institutions in every aspect in the context of the fight against corruption, but also as a measure aimed at combating disinformation and fake news.
