German Culture Week: a celebration of diversity and sustainability in Albania
From October 2 to 8, Albania will host the German Culture Week, coinciding with “German October,” which features annual activities celebrating German culture in the country. This week promises a vibrant program filled with classical music, street rave parties, innovative startups, and artistic exhibitions.
The festivities will kick off with the exhibition “City X – I, Tirana” at the Tirana Art Gallery. This modern artistic project showcases works created in collaboration with various citizens of Tirana, reflecting their visions for the city’s development.
For photography enthusiasts, the “Early Photography Techniques” workshops will take place at the Arka Youth Center from October 2 to 6, featuring renowned analog photography experts Jonas Ruhs and Maximilian Zeitler from Berlin.
A forum for open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving among youth, experts, and local government representatives will be held on October 4 at the “Gjergj Fishta” public library in Lezhë.
Film lovers can enjoy screenings of titles such as “Jonja,” “Franky Five Star,” and “Elaha” on October 2, 5, and 7, respectively.
On October 6, the “Street Rave with Hannes Bieger” will take place on Pjetër Bogdani Street in Tirana, featuring the world-famous DJ who will blend Deep House and Techno music. Classical music aficionados are invited to the concert “Mothers, Lovers, Revolutionists” at the University of Arts concert hall on October 7, featuring pianist Sina Kloke and mezzo-soprano Marta Wryk, focusing on women’s contributions to music history.
On October 8, the exhibition “Tipping Point” will open at Galeria Kalo, featuring artists reflecting on decisive moments in life. The same day will also host the concert “Beethoven and Schubert in Dialogue” at the University of Arts.
Additionally, the CCL Shkodra Hackathon will take place at the Arka Youth Center in Shkodër, focusing on sustainable solutions for organic, textile, and packaging waste within the circular economy.
Organizers invite art enthusiasts to join this dynamic week, celebrating cultural diversity and sustainable futures. The German Culture Weeks have been held in Albania since 2007, highlighting the belief that art and culture foster moments of joy and open new perspectives.
