Euronews Albania survey: Edi Rama’s Socialists seen as clear favorites ahead of May 11

A third Euronews Albania Eurobarometer national survey conducted between March 22 and April 3 confirms the dominant position of the Socialist Party (SP) ahead of Albania’s May 11 elections. A majority of respondents believe SP will win, a view reinforced by the party’s lead in voter intention and trust to address national problems. The opposition trails across all key indicators.

Why is this important: The data shows a consistent wide gap between the ruling party and its challengers — not only in projected votes but also in public confidence. With just weeks to go, there’s little evidence of momentum on the opposition side, while undecided voters remain sizable.

Perceived outcome: When asked who they believe will win the May 11 elections — regardless of their own preference — a clear majority pointed to the Socialist Party.

57.7% believe the Socialist Party (PS) will win

20.3% say the Democratic Party-led ASHM coalition will win

2.2% believe Adriatik Lapaj’s movement could win

15.1% are undecided

Declared preferences: In terms of vote intention, the Socialist Party leads by double digits, but the opposition coalition still commands a substantial share. A notable portion of the electorate remains undecided.

40.6% intend to vote for PS

30.0% for ASHM

6.7% support Adriatik Lapaj

4.4% back Agron Shehaj

1.8% support Arlind Qori

13.5% are undecided

5.3% say they will not vote

Governance confidence: Asked which party is best positioned to solve key national issues — from inflation to unemployment — most respondents placed their trust in the ruling Socialists.

44.0% – PS

23.5% – Democratic Party (DP)

5.5% – Adriatik Lapaj

Others scored below 3%

What else: The contrast between who voters expect to win and who they plan to vote for shows how dominant the perception of a PS victory has become. Even among opposition voters, a significant portion believe the ruling party is headed for another mandate.

With 13.5% still undecided, voter mobilization will be critical — but no data in the survey suggests a pending shift in favor of the opposition. The PS remains ahead on all major indicators: expected outcome, voter preference, and public trust.
