Edi Rama announces goal for party to reach 1 million supporters by 2030

The Prime Minister and leader of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama called on Socialists to work so that party secures 1 million supporters by 2030. In the 2021 elections, the Socialist Party secured 768,134 votes.

Why is this significant

The ambitious call demonstrates the confidence of the Prime Minister and Socialists in the run-up to the 2025 elections when Rama seeks to be confirmed in power for a fourth mandate. It also illustrates the strategic and long-term planning approach the party has adopted under Rama who is making concerted efforts to attract more young people, professionals, and representatives from the Diaspora at a time when the opposition is showing itself unable to broaden its appeal and adopt new ideas.

Context

To achieve the goal of winning the next elections and expanding the pool of Socialist supporters, Edi Rama has assembled a new leadership team for the Socialist Party, including 10 new members of the executive board and 15 political leaders for the districts. These individuals have specific tasks to mobilize voters on the ground for the 2025 elections. Additionally, Rama has launched the platform “The MP We Want” to recruit candidates from outside the party structures, including young people, prominent professionals, and Albanians living in the diaspora. This platform aims to bring fresh ideas and individuals into Albania’s future parliament.
