EBRD: Albania’s economy to grow by 3.7% in 2025, driven by tourism

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) projects Albania’s economy will grow by 3.7% this year, with tourism and construction as main drivers. However, the report warns that droughts and economic uncertainty in the EU pose risks, while the EU accession process remains a positive factor.
Context: Albania’s economic growth remains strong, though slightly down from 3.9% in 2024. The EBRD highlights climate risks, noting that droughts could impact energy production, leading to higher electricity imports.
“Unfavorable climatic conditions (mainly possible droughts) could negatively impact energy production, leading to increased electricity imports. However, the expansion of solar energy capacity helps mitigate this risk,” the report states.
The EBRD also warns that a weaker Eurozone economy, declining remittances, and a weaker-than-expected tourist season could negatively impact Albania’s growth.
Despite these risks, the EU accession process remains a key opportunity, potentially bringing increased financial support and investment to Albania.
