Located just an hour away from the city of Peshkopi, the Grama Highlands are the tallest and most visited peaks in the Dibër region in northeastern Albania, on the border with North Macedonia. Nestled within the Korab mountain range, the temperatures here never exceed 26 degrees Celsius, offering a cool and refreshing escape.

Monuments of Nature in Grama Highlands

  • Grama Mirrors: These are a solid block of rock stretching 500 meters long and 200 meters wide, reflecting sunlight beautifully like a mirror at an altitude of 1900 meters. Located near the village of Slloven, visitors are advised to take local shepherds or guides to reach them due to the lack of marked trails.
  • Lake Grama: This glacial lake sits at over 2000 meters of altitude in the Grama mountain massif. Its crystal-clear, cold waters freeze over in winter, creating a unique alpine ecosystem teeming with plant life.
  • Ladies’ Highland: This glacial formation spans from 1700 to 2200 meters above sea level and get their name from a local belief that the formation was once owned by the sisters and wife of the Albanian national hero, Skanderbeg.
  • Shllinasi of Vrenjt: A rock massif composed of gypsum and rock salt, measuring up to 900 meters long and 250 meters wide, located between 1200 and 1500 meters in altitude.
