Why this news is significant

The resignation comes amid major leadership changes announced by the new Interior Minister, Ervin Hoxhaj, affecting the entire national police structure.

Context

In his first public meeting with senior police officials, Minister Hoxhaj announced the dismissal of the directors of all 12 districts, a move that included the requested resignation of the General Director.
