Court rejects request to overturn presidential decree on Himara elections

The Administrative Court of First Instance has rejected a petition filed by former opposition mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, seeking to annul President Bajram Begaj’s decree to hold partial elections in Himara on August 4.

According to the prosecution, the President’s decree was signed before the conclusion of Beleri’s mandate had become final, as it had not yet passed through all judicial channels.

However, the President’s legal representatives argued in court that the petition was flawed and outside the jurisdiction of the Administrative Court. The State Attorney’s Office also supported the Presidential representatives, urging the court to dismiss the lawsuit.
