Consular Service: identification documents available within the same day through online applications
For Albanian citizens who lose their identification documents while abroad or whose documents have expired, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has updated its procedures to offer an online application option through the government platform e-Albania.
How to apply
Citizens should access the e-Albania platform and select the service for applying for a travel permit. After clicking on “New Application,” they must complete the electronic form and upload the required verification document. A confirmation email with a special application code will be sent to them. Upon receiving the application, payment must be made and the original mandate must be sent by mail. Citizens will be notified electronically when their application is completed.
This service can be processed within the same day if applying in person at an embassy or consulate. Alternatively, postal service with payment can be requested.
For minor Albanian citizens who have not previously obtained a travel document or whose current passport has expired, one of the parents or a legal guardian must appear in person at the nearest diplomatic mission.
