Albanian Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation partners with UNAA to boost arts and culture support
The Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MEKI) and the United Nations Association Albania (UNAA) have today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at enhancing and developing supportive financial policies and mechanisms for the arts and culture sector.
Context
This collaboration follows the presentation of a study conducted by UNAA and supported by ArtNexus, titled “On Support Mechanisms and Financial Resources for Visual Arts in Albania.” The study highlighted the challenges faced by visual artists in Albania and underscored the need for ongoing dialogue between public institutions and the artistic community.
The initiative aims to support emerging Albanian artists, enhance the cultural calendar, and foster creativity. It focuses on developing artist residencies, boosting national representation, and improving artistic mobility. The agreement also seeks to optimize financial support across visual and performing arts, festivals, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage, while introducing new programs to invigorate the independent arts scene.
As part of this effort, public meetings and consultations with stakeholders from the Albanian arts and culture sector and other institutions will be held. This fall, MEKI will organize a series of meetings and consultations titled “Voices of Culture: Artists Speak, Institutions Listen.”
