Albanian Lek maintains strong position against major currencies mmid boost from tourism

The Albanian lek has retained a strong position in the foreign exchange market during the final week of July 2024, buoyed by increased tourism revenue.

According to the official exchange rate provided by the Bank of Albania, the euro is currently trading at 100 lek, marking a slight decline of 0.05 lek from the previous day.

The US dollar is being exchanged at 92.46 lek, down by 0.03 lek against the Albanian currency.

The weakening of the euro benefits borrowers with loans in foreign currencies, while negatively impacting the export sector by reducing their revenue when expressed in the local currency.

The British pound and the Swiss franc have also depreciated against the lek. The British pound has weakened by 0.24 lek to 118.95 lek, while the Swiss franc has dropped by 0.39 lek to 104.75 lek.
