Albanian government expands free diabetes test strip program
Albanian Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, has announced an expansion of the government’s free diabetes test strip program. Starting August 1, individuals with work-related disabilities and those with disabilities aged 25 to 65 will also be eligible to receive diabetes test strips at no cost.
Why is this relevant
The decision significantly eases the financial burden on the disabled and those with limited abilities, thus coming to the aid of a vulnerable segment of the population.
Under the new policy, in addition to those aged 0 to 25 and pensioners over 65, individuals with disabilities within the 25 to 65 age group will also receive 100% free diabetes test strips, provided they are diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus by their family doctor.
