Albanian Foreign Minister to run for OSCE Secretary General
Igli Hasani, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will run for the position of Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The candidacy of the Albanian top diplomat has been put forward by the Albanian government. Hasani will compete against 4 other candidates:
- Jan Braathu (Norway) – Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia
- Christophe Kamp (Netherlands) – Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the OSCE
- John MacGregor (Canada) – Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat
- Marcel Peško (Slovakia) – Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Coordinator of the OSCE Project in Ukraine
Hasani’s candidacy marks Albania’s bid for a significant role in international diplomacy, reflecting broader European and global interests in OSCE affairs.
