Albanian Deputy Prime Minister announces key infrastructure projects during Socialist Party Congress
Belinda Balluku, Albania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, announced today that the International Airport of Vlorë will be completed by the end of this year, with the first flights expected to commence in 2025.

Speaking in a video presentation at the start of the Socialist Party’s Electoral Congress, Balluku outlined several major infrastructure projects. She highlighted ongoing work on the Durrës-Pristina railway project and the imminent tender for the construction of the new commercial port at Porto Romano in Durrës. Additionally, she noted that the tourist ports of Durrës and Vlorë are under construction, with future plans for ports in Saranda and Lezhë, despite challenges related to property ownership.
Balluku also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Albania a net exporter of energy by 2030. She mentioned that a tender for the Milot-Balldren segment will soon open, and design work for the Milot-Poliçan segment is underway.
The Socialist Party is currently holding its Electoral Congress at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana. During the Congress, Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to present a new platform for selecting candidates for the 2025 elections.
