Albania unveils National Social Protection Strategy 2024-2030

The Minister of Health and Social Protection presented Albania’s National Social Protection Strategy 2024-2030 today. The strategy was introduced with the participation of key figures including the UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, Fiona Mccluney, Swiss Ambassador Ruth Huber, EU Ambassador to Tirana Silvio Gonzato, World Bank representative Emanuel Salinas, and UNICEF representative Murat Sahin.
Why is this relevant
The strategy represents a governmental effort to establish a guiding framework that coordinates inter-institutional efforts in the field of social welfare. It is structured around two main pillars: alleviating poverty for all individuals in need and enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities. Emphasizing gender-sensitive, transparent measures capable of addressing risks and crises, the strategy also aims to expand integrated, accessible, and high-quality social services. This approach seeks to promote inclusivity and sustainable development through collaboration with local authorities and other stakeholders.
One of the pivotal proposals is the introduction of an innovative integrated model of payments and social care services, aimed at enhancing system effectiveness and service quality.
In her remarks, the Minister emphasized the Government’s ambition to create conditions where everyone is treated equally, irrespective of gender, region, political beliefs, economic or social status, or sexual orientation.
