Albania launches “My Public Space” portal to report encroachment; hundreds of tips in first hours

As the on-the-ground drive to clear public spaces enters its third week, a dedicated reporting portal went live today for citizens to flag any case of seizure or violations not yet caught by local government structures. At hapesiraimepublike.gov.al, anyone can submit a report; the Prime Minister, who announced the new communication window, said complaints and information can cover both public-space grabs and environmental pollution.
Why is this important: The portal gives residents a direct, trackable way to report abuses in real time and pushes faster responses from institutions. It also widens the net beyond inspectorates, surfacing issues that would otherwise be missed.
Context: The site offers seven distinct categories for reports: occupation of sidewalks and community spaces; illegal construction or permit violations; encroachment or pollution along national roads; illegal private parking; other violations harming public property; construction sites without proper fencing or causing environmental pollution; and physical or noise pollution of public space.
Within hours of launch, the number of submissions reached several hundred. Users can follow their case status live; if there’s no institutional response within 24 hours, the portal enables a follow-up neglect complaint via a built-in form.
What’s next: Local authorities are expected to route verified reports to inspectorates for action under existing bylaws. The government says the portal will remain active alongside field inspections to sustain pressure on chronic abusers of public space.
