Albania invests in mountain tourism with new trail projects
Mountain tourism in Albania is recognized as one of the country’s largest tourist resources, alongside its renowned coastline, attracting both international and local visitors. Each year, the number of enthusiasts for mountain tourism grows, prompting the National Agency of Protected Areas to launch two significant projects aimed at studying, improving, maintaining, and marking hiking trails.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro announced that the first project focuses on the Theth-Valbona trail. This popular route within the Albanian Alps National Park spans approximately 15 kilometers. The project will enhance the trail with new opportunities for a high-quality hiking experience, increase safety through seasonal marking, create panoramic viewpoints such as a new platform overlooking Theth Valley, and install appropriate signage.
The second project will concentrate on the 7-kilometer Ish-Rezervat–Bovilla Lake trail, located close to Tirana and frequented year-round. This project will develop new features including panoramic balconies, an information point, and additional signage to improve orientation and the overall experience for visitors.
Albania is set to further establish itself as a premier destination for mountain enthusiasts, encouraging travelers to explore and appreciate its scenic beauty.
