Albania hosts first Brazilian Cultural Week
From June 21-29, Albania will host its inaugural Brazilian Cultural Week, featuring a dynamic lineup of artistic events across Tirana and Vlora.
The week begins with a Brazilian poetry night, offering audiences the chance to immerse themselves in the essence of Brazilian literature set to the backdrop of elegant piano compositions. Renowned works by Brazilian literary icons such as Hilda Hilst, Fernando Pessoa, Machado de Assis’s novel The Psychiatrist, and compositions by Miguel Torga will be presented in both Albanian and Portuguese, ensuring a cultural exchange that spans continents.
Highlighting the cultural exchange, on June 24, the Camerata Balcanica string concert will serve as a musical bridge between the Balkans and Brazil, featuring talented young classical musicians from the Western Balkans performing selected Brazilian pieces.
The program continues with screenings of classic Brazilian films including Behind the Sun, Bossa Nova, and Two Sons of Francisco. Notably, Walter Salles’s 2001 film Behind the Sun, adapted from Ismail Kadare’s novel Broken April, will offer viewers an exploration of themes that resonate across Latin America.
The grand finale in Vlora will be a celebration featuring the world-renowned Brazilian Carnivals, where artists will showcase the vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage that defines Brazil.
Brazilian Cultural Week in Albania promises to be a celebration of art, literature, and music, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Brazilian culture in the heart of Albania.
