“Made in Albania” agricultural exports show strong growth

Albania’s agricultural exports are expanding, with notable yearly growth. Minister of Agriculture Anila Denaj announced that exports have increased by nearly 13% annually, with even higher growth in EU markets.

Why is this important: The increase highlights Albania’s growing presence in international agriculture. Strong export numbers boost the economy and encourage greater production, especially in fruits and vegetables.

Key Details:

1.      Recent Growth: In the first seven months of this year alone, agricultural exports increased by 16.7%, with a 22% rise in exports to EU markets. Denaj cited these figures as motivation to expand production per hectare, focusing on greenhouses supported by investment grants.

2.      Support for Farmers: The ministry prioritizes farmer cooperation, with subsidies for forming Agricultural Cooperation Societies. Currently, 321 farming cooperatives benefit from this support, improving efficiency and productivity.

3.      Investment Standards: Denaj emphasized that the investment scheme aligns with top standards, ensuring Albania’s agricultural products meet EU quality demands.
