Albania, Croatia invite Bulgaria to join trilateral defense pact with Kosovo
From a joint press conference in Tirana, Albanian Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali and her Croatian counterpart extended a public invitation to Bulgaria to join the trilateral defense cooperation agreement signed earlier this year between Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo.
Context: The trilateral pact, formalized through the Joint Declaration on Defense Cooperation, aims to enhance regional interoperability, strengthen defense capacities, and support Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
Spiropali said Albania and Croatia remain open to gradually including other like-minded partners:
“We would welcome Bulgaria’s participation in areas of shared strategic interest, particularly in Adriatic-Ionian connectivity, regional stability, and security.”
She called the trilateral format a valuable platform for advancing the region’s alignment with European and Euro-Atlantic defense structures.
