Erion Braçe on Veliaj case: Only the Constitutional Court’s decision should be respected

Socialist MP Erion Braçe, one of the most respected voices within the ruling majority and known for openly denouncing even his own party’s mistakes, criticized the procedures that led to the dismissal of Tirana’s mayor Erion Veliaj and the decree setting elections in the capital.
Braçe said that, despite political interests, “the only path should have been to respect the decision of the Constitutional Court.” He underlined that such an issue should first have been debated inside the Socialist Party and stressed the importance of treating elected officials with fairness and dignity.
“Even when you want to remove someone or send them before prosecutors and judges, it must be done with dignity,” Braçe told TemA.
