Albania’s annual inflation at 2.4% in July, leisure and culture prices lead gains

Albania’s annual inflation, measured by INSTAT using Eurostat methodology, stood at 2.4% in July 2025. The sharpest increase came from “recreation and culture,” up 12%, driven by travel tickets and summer activities. Month on month, prices dipped 0.2%, mainly on cheaper food and energy.

Why is this important: Inflation holding near 2.4%, similar to the EU average at peak tourist season, means prices are generally stable for household despite the summer rush.

Context: INSTAT reports broad but uneven movements across categories. “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” rose 3.3%, as did “hotels, cafés and restaurants,” reflecting peak-season demand in hospitality. “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” increased 1.8%, while “education services” and “miscellaneous goods and services” were each up 1.6%. Transport was the only group to decline, falling 0.8%.

The monthly change in July was −0.2%, largely due to lower food and energy prices, which often soften midsummer as supply improves and utilities adjust from earlier spikes. Despite seasonal volatility, the July reading keeps headline inflation in a comfortable range compared with recent years.
