Popeyes to debut in Kosovo, Balkan expansion on horizon

Kosovo’s Balkan Foods has secured a franchise agreement to introduce Popeyes, the iconic American fast-food chain, to Kosovo the latter half of the year, with ambitions to expand into neighboring Balkan countries.

Following the Kosovo launch, Balkan Foods intends to extend Popeyes’ presence into Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the near future.

Established in 1972, Popeyes Louisiana Chicken is renowned globally for its distinctive menu, notably its spicy fried chicken. The brand, acquired in 2017 by Canada’s Restaurant Brands International, continues to expand its international footprint.

Balkan Foods, which began operations in 2017, currently operates Burger King restaurants across Bulgaria, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The franchise agreement with Popeyes represents a strategic move to diversify its portfolio and capitalize on evolving consumer tastes in the region.
