Firehouse Subs to expand into Kosovo and Albania

Restaurant Brands International (RBI) has announced a franchise agreement with Kosovo-based Balkan Foods, paving the way for Firehouse Subs to enter the fast casual dining scenes of Kosovo and Albania.

Firehouse Subs, founded in Florida in 1994 and acquired by RBI in 2021, emphasizes quality ingredients and service excellence, distinguishing itself in the fast casual segment. With 1,250 locations globally, the brand is poised to open its first restaurant in Albania by the end of 2024, followed shortly by Kosovo.

Balkan Foods, established in Kosovo in 2017 and renowned for operating Burger King restaurants across the Balkans, is expanding its portfolio with Firehouse Subs, signaling a commitment to introducing globally recognized dining brands to local markets. This move is expected to stimulate economic growth and enhance regional gastronomic offerings in Kosovo and Albania.

The franchise agreement underscores RBI’s strategic expansion into Southeast Europe, leveraging Balkan Foods’ established presence and expertise in the region. As anticipation grows for these new dining options, stakeholders foresee positive impacts on local economies and cultural exchange.
