Kristi Ramadani wins two bronze medals at 2025 European Weightlifting Championships

Albanian weightlifter Kristi Ramadani claimed two bronze medals at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships held in Chișinău, Moldova, adding to his growing list of international achievements. The podium finishes follow his two silver medals in last year’s competition, solidifying his position among Europe’s elite in the sport.

Why is this important: Ramadani’s consistent performance on the continental stage marks a significant milestone for Albania’s weightlifting program and positions him as one of the nation’s top Olympic prospects heading into the next competitive cycle.

What did he say: Ramadani, 24, expressed satisfaction but admitted the outcome could have been even better.

“I feel very happy — there was potential for more,” he said after the event.

Reflecting on the competition, Ramadani pointed to his performance in the snatch discipline as the missed opportunity.

“If the snatch had gone better, I could’ve taken bronze there too and fought for silver in the total,” he said.

What’s next: National team coach Sokol Bishanaku is already looking ahead.

“At the next European Championships, we hope to win gold. That’s our target,” Bishanaku said.

Ramadani’s next appearances will be at the Balkan Championships, to be held in Albania this September, and at the World Weightlifting Championships. The long-term focus is clear: preparing for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
