From Chopin to the Carnivals of Korça: a vibrant march at the National Theater of Opera, Ballet, and Folk Ensemble

The National Theater of Opera, Ballet, and Folk Ensemble (TKOBAP) has unveiled its artistic calendar for March, featuring a dynamic lineup of performances that blend classical, traditional, and contemporary influences.

Why is this important: March at TKOBAP will showcase a rich diversity of artistic expression, from symphonic masterpieces to traditional folk performances. With events ranging from the first international Chopin competition to the beloved Carnivals of Korça operetta, the program offers a unique cultural journey for audiences.

Context: The month opens with a premiere symphonic concert on March 1st, featuring a mix of Albanian compositions and international works. This is followed by J’adore Chopin, an international competition for young artists running from March 1-6, bringing a fresh and spring-inspired energy to the theater.

The Folk Ensemble, after a successful showcase at ITB Berlin, will travel to Kosovo on March 7th, celebrating the power of tradition through performance. On March 13th, the ensemble returns to TKOBAP with “Brez pas brezi” (Generation After Generation), a captivating production that connects past and present through music and dance.

On March 16th, the stage will be filled with compositions by some of the greatest classical composers in the gala concert “The New World”, a symphonic instrumental event set to be one of the highlights of the month.

Finally, March 24-26 will see the staging of the operetta “Carnivals of Korça”, bringing color, tradition, and festive spirit to the TKOBAP stage, rounding off a month of cultural celebration.

What’s next: With a program designed to appeal to all generations, TKOBAP continues to be a cultural hub, celebrating Albania’s rich artistic heritage while embracing new artistic expressions.
