Shota: First armored personnel carrier produced in Albania makes debut
For the first time in Albania’s history, an armored personnel carrier will carry the Made in Albania label. Engineered by Albanian automotive company Timak, the APC named Shota aims to meet the highest international standards of safety and defense.
Why is this relevant
Shota marks Albania’s debut in armored military vehicle production in line with Government initiatives aimed at fostering the domestic military industry.
Equipped with advanced technology, Shota can be utilized in a wide range of military and civilian operations, including troop transport, rescue missions, and security operations. Timak emphasized that the APC marks just the beginning of a series of new innovations in the defense sector, with the goal of bolstering the Albanian military industry and creating new opportunities for employment and professional development, particularly for young people and women.
The launch of Shota is in line with the strategy announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama that aims to establish a new platform for the development of the domestic military industry. The strategy foresees investments by the Ministry of Defense in order to revive the Made in Albania brand of military products. These investments will be produced through collaborations and partnerships with Albania’s partners and allies.
