European Heritage Days 2024: Rich program of activities at the Marubi Museum
European Heritage Days are celebrated annually in Albania during September, culminating in the National Day of Cultural Heritage. In 2024, European Heritage Days will take place from September 23 to 29, with a focus on the theme Journeys, Networks, and Connections.
Inspired by this theme, the National Museum of Photography “Marubi” has developed a diverse program that highlights the evolution of visual arts and the connections between the Marubi Dynasty photographers and Kolë Idromeno. Special attention will be given to Pietro Marubi’s journeys from Italy to Albania and Montenegro.
The program will also feature workshops and discussions on Kolë Idromeno’s activities and contributions to the city of Shkodër, with the aim of further enriching the Marubi-Idromeno Cultural Network project.
The museum invites art enthusiasts to join the festivities in Shkodër and has announced some of the scheduled activities:
• September 23: Archive of the Marubi Museum’s educational program, guided by Tereza Çuni;
• September 24: “A Guide to Idromeno’s Architecture,” a discussion led by Sabrina Kuçi and Fatjon Mlloja;
• September 25: “When Young People from Shkodër Began to Dream of Becoming Painters,” a discussion by Eleni Laperi;
• September 26: “What Does the City Hide? The Marubi-Idromeno Journey in Shkodër,” a workshop;
• September 27: “The History of Photography in Montenegro,” a discussion by Maja Djurić, and “Montenegro in Marubbi Studio Photographs,” a discussion by Tatjana Koprivica and Slavko Burzanović;
• September 28: “Marubi, la memoria della luce,” a documentary film by Tomás Sheridan.
This week-long celebration promises to provide a comprehensive exploration of the rich cultural connections and visual heritage of the region.
