Prime Minister convenes government and party leadership ahead of start of political season
On Sunday, Prime Minister Edi Rama called an informal meeting involving all government structures and top Socialist representatives in Parliament, in a retreat dedicated to preparing for the upcoming political season.
Why is this important
The gathering, that under Rama has become a tradition, is crucial as it focuses on strategizing for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in spring, targeting a fourth consecutive term for the Socialists.
Context
The meeting took place at the governmental villa in Dajt, where divided into working groups, the majority analyzed various governance issues including economy, integration, social matters, and notably, communication strategies. Communication group leaders presented their plans for engaging media, social networks, and other public information channels during this period leading up to the elections. In line with these ambitions, a reorganization of all leading forums will occur at the National Assembly of the Socialist Party in Durres this coming Sunday. A new party leadership will be elected, and Prime Minister Rama is expected to introduce new political leaders for the country’s 12 regions. Changes in the party’s entire secretariat are also anticipated.
