Albania’s Strategic Partnership with the EBRD: 986 million worth of loans and grants
Albania has significantly benefited from its long-standing relationship with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which has provided substantial financial support for the country’s development initiatives. As a full member of the EBRD since 1991, Albania has leveraged this partnership to secure loans with favorable conditions, amounting to approximately 968 million euros. One notable project is the Vora-Hani i Hotit corridor, co-financed by the EBRD and the European Investment Bank (EIB), with additional grants from the European Union. This project, valued at 136 million euros, represents the largest investment grant ever secured by Albania and is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and economic integration.
The recent resolution to increase Albania’s capital in the EBRD by 4.03 million euros is a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Albanian government to meet its obligations to international financial institutions.
