Za Fest 2024 in Shkodër: A celebration of music and culture
The 8th edition of Za Fest started last night in Shkodër. From July 18th to July 20th, Shkodra will dance to the sounds of great music from over 7 bands and 33 artists. The festival, created and led by singer-songwriter Vlashent Sata, is supported by the EU Delegation in Albania. Za Fest aims to promote the traditions, values, and culture of Shkodra and attracts growing numbers of visitors each year.
The festival began at the courtyard of the “Oso Kuka” residence, a Cultural Monument and simultaneously the Historical Museum of Shkodër, where attendees enjoyed the festival free of charge. The opening night featured a performance by the band “Don’t Listen to Your Neighbors”. Alongside the musical acts, the audience was captivated by Gentian Koçi’s nationally and internationally award-winning film “A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On”. Adding a special touch to the evening, Dom Gjergj Meta delivered a stirring artistic and spiritual speech. It created a vivid atmosphere charged with music, cinema, and emotion, courtesy of a lineup that included special guests and talented artists.
Today, on July 19th, Za Fest shifts its focus mostly on music, headlined by performances from Ylli Limani, Bim Bimma, and Elsa Rraqi; while actor Çun Lajçi will interpret poetry at the enchanting Rozafa Castle, where complimentary transportation will be provided.
The festival culminates on its third and final night back at Rozafa Castle with a promise of electrifying performances. Audiences can anticipate the sounds of Pablo Reyes, an original member of the iconic Gypsy Kings, along with the eagerly awaited reunion of Albanian favorites Ritfolk. Also taking the stage will be the Sicilian trio Makari, joined by festival organizer Vlashent Sata himself, ensuring a memorable conclusion to this year’s Za Fest.
